I am a shopper that likes to buy what I went to the store for, nothing else. if I spend too much time browsing, I will buy stuff I don't need and go over my budget. I love my coupons and my list and I rarely venture from it.
So when I see oatmeal on my list I always head to the cereal aisle. Well, that is where the oatmeal is right?! Ugh..sometimes the most obvious savings are right in front of your face. My local grocery store offers bulk food items and I always purchase almonds from the bulk section, but again, in and out, I never look around. The other day it occurred to me glance at the oatmeal and see if I might be able to save by buying it that way.
We eat a lot of oatmeal at our house, and I mean a lot. This is what my cabinets look like all the. It is a full blown panic situation if we have less than 4 canisters of oatmeal on hand. I bought these the other day on sale 2 for $5, not a bad price I thought.. until I strolled through the bulk section and saw this….
For the same amount of oatmeal that I spent $10 on, I could have gotten it for $6.40 had I bought it in bulk. I know what I am doing from now on…
